Soulchild November devlog

Posted by RetryEli - November 29th, 2019

It's been a while hasn't it?

I'm really proud to bring you people some news about Project Silk, now with the final name of Soulchild

I'll be posting a devlog like this one at the end of everymonth on here, so be on the lookout of that, but let's get right to the point. What's up with this project? What was added into the game this month?

Well first of all the inventory was made from the start, previously it was a tiny hotbar in the bottom or top of the screen but that is NO MORE, thanks to the incredible help of Trixelized, the new inventory is a nice nice wheel that feels great to use

But it doesn't end here, I made the previously added mask obtainable via objects so you can well, you know, obtain them. As I was testing the game with classmates I realized most of them just ran passed the masks so I decided to force the player into getting a mask when they find one, resulting on a cute little animation when you get near one.

Another super cool thing added is the spiderwebs that you can shoot when using the spider mask, this idea was originally brought up by the team like two months into development back in April and it finally made its way in, it's one of the most enjoyable things to play with inside the game and feels snappy and responsive. Additionally parallax was added to the backgrounds when this was added

Also some other features were added but aren't fully finished yet like two other different masks, a save/load system, discord rich presence and lots upon lots of bug fixes.

Some animations were changed, Trix actually made an all new push animation so the old one with the weird blue ray doesn't exist anymore and we're all grateful for it.

If you want to know more about this project be sure to tune in next month with the new devlog, follow me on twitter (@retryeli) and if you want to support the game more directly please consider being a patron (link on the newgrounds profile) which will also grant you access to works in progress of drawings I make and weekly updates on the game, thanks for reading and I'll see y'all next time
